In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth” Genesis 1:1. And the Bible continues to say that God created the entire world in six 24-hour days.

An interpretation of the Scripture says that the account in Genesis is not real literal history, with a literal “very good” creation, with a literal Adam and Eve and that sin did not literally enter the world through their actions. And therefore, you and I do not literally need to be saved.

This is where the rubber meets the road. As Christians, it is because of this literal account in history, that we need the Gospel.
